Vans ‘Old Skool’ trainers Primark dupe: What’s the difference?

By on August 16, 2017

Whilst on my annual pay day Primark shop, I came across a familiar dupe to one of my most loved pairs of shoes. It’s clear that the ‘Old Skool’ Vans trend is everywhere at the moment, so of course it was only a matter of time before Primark created their own alternative, which may I add, is also a whopping £47 cheaper!

So, is the Primark dupe really a dupe? I compared similarities and differences between each shoe… and here is what I found. One of the first differences between the two that I found is in the soles. Whereas the genuine Vans have an orange sole as shown below, the Primark alternative has a darker colour which isn’t as high quality. But hey, what where you expecting in an £8 dupe? Nevertheless, the Primark dupe does share the same chunky white sole as the real Vans, so there isn’t much difference there.

And now onto the ‘signature’ stripe which is arguably, one of the main features of the ‘Old Skool’ Vans. This is also the biggest factor that stood out to me when noticing that these Primark shoes really were dupes. Although there isn’t much of a difference at first glance, when you look closely you can definitely see two different stripes on each shoe. For example, the genuine ‘Old Skool’ Vans have more of a angled line, where as the Primark dupe is styled with more of a curved line. You can see the difference between the two below:

The next difference is minor, yet still something that is vaguely noticeable. In case you haven’t noticed it yet, the Primark dupe has thicker laces; whereas the real Vans have thinner white laces. However, both of the laces are interchangeable so it’s not a huge deal and is definitely one of the smaller differences.

The final difference is also a given, but still a difference at that. Obviously, the back of the Vans trainer has the official Vans trademark logo, whereas the Primark alternative doesn’t have anything. The stitching however, is pretty much similar with white thread contrasting with the dark material to make the shoe stand out. Regardless, the stitching isn’t as high quality on the Primark shoe… but what do you expect from a £8 product?

Honestly, when wearing the shoes I would say they are as comfortable as each other. When trying on the Primark pair, they felt just like my genuine Vans- you would never know the difference if you were blindfolded! If you don’t want to fork out £55 for the original Vans, then the Primark dupe is definitely a must from me. They’re affordable, comfy, and honestly; look a lot like the original pair. You wouldn’t really know the difference unless you really examined the shoes together. On the other hand, it does seem like the genuine Vans would last longer from the sole comparison as they are better quality. But hey, Primark strikes again with the affordable dupes- and this one is a yay from me.

Have you tried the Old Skool dupe from Primark, and if so, what are your thoughts? Make sure to let me know in the comment box below!

Zara sale try-on haul

By on July 1, 2017

It’s that time of year again where Zara try their best to make me bankrupt (again!) and have their mid season summer sale. As soon as I got the date for their summer sale start, I rushed my little legs over there as soon as I could and picked up some amazing pieces which fit my summer wardrobe nicely!

Firstly, I picked up this t-shirt (which you can also tie at the front) which is so unique. With the ‘camera’ pattern design, it adds a bit of edginess to any dull outfit. Throw on a pair of jeans and comfy shoes and you’re good to go.

For this outfit, I styled the t-shit with a traditional red lip (as you do), my ripped bottom jeans from Toyshop, and my old skool vans. If you don’t want to go out in anything too dressy this summer and want to keep it casual, this is the perfect outfit.

One of the things I love most about this t-shirt is it’s unique arm style and how comfy the material is. Ir doesn’t feel too heavy, yet doesn’t feel too light either. I made sure to tie the shirt at the front to delve into the ‘crop top’ style just in case I got a bit too warm.

Next, I picked up some flared striped trousers which are perfect comfort for when it’s sunny. They fit so well- and can compliment literally any outfit. I also styled them for a night out clubbing the other week alongside a per of heels so these trousers can really go a long way. An added bonus is that I have been looking for something similar to this for so long that I could style with a simple top and just feel comfortable in when it’s really hot and stuffy this summer.

Fortunately, I managed to snap up these trousers before anyone else did as they were the last ones in a size small left. At £19.99 I knew they were definitely a fashion steal… and the rest is history. Styled with a black crop top and some simple sandals, you have your summer essentials all in one outfit.

Last but certainly not least, is one of my all time favourite pieces that I have ever picked up in Zara. For a long time now, I have wanted a simple summer dress, flared and baggy, but also comfortable for when it’s too warm and stuffy. It felt a bit like fate when I saw this little beaut of a piece in the sale for £17.99 and I just had to pick it up.

Other than the way this dress fits, I also love the unique tassels which gives the dress an extra edginess. I am also a sucker for gingham prints, so the blue gingham pattern was a big must for me. The dress is short, but not too short, so is a perfect beach dress or even perfect for doing a spot of shopping in. Like the striped trousers, I styled this dress with my gladiator sandals from Primark (£8) to complete my look.

Overall, I feel like it was a very successful Zara sale trip which only seems to come around twice a year (sob!) Zara sales never fail to disappoint and the quality of their clothes always blows me away. Here’s to my new summer wardrobe!

Note: As all of the items I purchased were via an in-store sale, none of the items seem like they are available to purchase online for me to provide links.

Love and happiness always,

Am I the same blogger?

By on April 26, 2017

For a while now, i have been agitated with my blog, what I blog about and just everything I post and do on here. I feel like every blogger goes through those times where they feel no motivation to post, or hate their theme and desperately need a change but they just don’t know how.

The truth is, I’ve always wanted to be an organic and unique blogger. I’ve always wanted my content to separate itself from everyone else’s in the industry, for the simple fact that it’s a reflection of my thoughts. ‘ItsBeccaJayne’ is called itsbeccajayne, because it’s me. It’s what I think about. It’s what I feel. It’s everything that I need to get out in the open, and people just so happen to stumble across my content and relate to it which is a humbling bonus.

However, itsbeccajayne shares many other aspects of myself which I also want to express on this blog. I like make-up. I like the excitement of buying new products and wanting to tell the world over what beauty ‘must haves’ I’m lusting over. But that doesn’t necessarily make me a beauty blogger. I love fashion, and always have. I love experimenting with styles suited to each season, and telling the world about my favourite outfit of the day. But that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m a fashion blogger either.

The thing with blogging is that a lot of people feel like they have to fit into ‘one’ blogger category, and for a while, I thought I did too. I was worried that my readers would grow to dislike my blog if I blogged about other stuff I loved, or if diversity isn’t what they wanted. I didn’t want to blog about beauty or fashion, because I felt like I would have to separate myself from a ‘lifestyle blog’ to a beauty or fashion blog.

In reality, I am either all of those, or none of those. The fact of the matter is that it doesn’t really matter. I am me. And that’s what itsbeccajayne is. It’s everything I love, and everything I feel, congregated into one place on the internet. From make-up, to fashion, to mental health, to just general posts about life or whatever goes on in that head of mine. I don’t want to feel constrained on my blog anymore, nor do I want to let any of my readers down.

The question I asked in the title of the post still stands, however. Am I the same blogger I was 6 months ago? Am I the same blogger I was when I first started? Yes, and no. I am the same person, and I still love all the same things- I just never expressed the love for it on my blog back then. I feel as though my blog is growing with my interests. As I become more interested in things, I want to blog about them. I want to express my excitement; but I also want to blog about the same old things I’ve always blogged about. From ranting posts, to thoughts, to educating on mental health and Feminism. I want everything I blog about on here to be a reflection of me. That’s why it’s called itsbeccajayne. Because who I am is everything I blog about on here.

Love and happiness always,

xo, Becca
